Suvela
Espoo
A regional development project increasing the attractiveness of the centre of Espoo
Avara has been taking part in the extensive and comprehensive development of the Suvela area in Espoo as a property developer. The aim was to link the area more closely to the developing centre of Espoo and to improve its appeal, comfort, and urban characteristics.
The City of Espoo’s goals includde the comprehensive renovation of the apartment blocks built in the 1970s and significant infill development. At the same time, the area’s housing stock and management forms were set to be diversified, while good transport connections at the Espoo station and in the direction of the recreational areas in Helsinki’s Central Park were ensured.
Avara had 180 new rental apartments built in the neighbourhood. Most of these apartments were planned to be three-room ones, while slightly less than a third of them will be two-room apartments and every fifth a studio apartment.
The construction company Fira implemented two housing cooperatives for the Avara Residential Fund II, both of which included two buildings.
