Kirstinmäki block receives the Hurraa! award for construction

Every year, the Espoo Environment and Building Board and the Building Control Authority award the Hurraa! prize for construction to a particularly meritorious and successful project related to the built environment. The 2022 award was given to the Kirstinmäki block in Suvela, which includes apartment blocks from several different operators. The block was completed with 179 rental apartments from Avara, 68 right-of-occupancy apartments from Asuntosäätiö, 215 rental apartments from Espoon Asunnot and 59 youth apartments from NAL Asunnot.

Regional development project to increase attractiveness of Espoo Centre
The aim of the City of Espoo was to carry out a comprehensive renovation and significant infill development of the old 1970s residential blocks in the area. At the same time, the aim was to diversify the housing stock and forms of management in the area, as well as to ensure good transport connections to the Espoo station and towards the Central Park recreational areas. According to the jury that awarded the 2022 Hurraa! award, the development and replenishment project has been successfully implemented and the area has been revived through a colourful new look.

Avara provides 179 non-subsidised rental apartments in four apartment blocks
Avara carried out a new development project consisting of four apartment blocks in the Kirstinmäki complex in Suvela, with a total of 179 non-subsidised rental apartments completed. Most of the apartments are three-room units, slightly less than a third being two-room apartments and every fifth a studio apartment. There are also indoor spaces designed for shared use by the residents, and a pleasant, sheltered communal courtyard surrounded by the buildings. In addition to the apartment block, the complex includes a parking facility built under the yard deck as well as a separate service building. The contractor for the project was Fira and the architectural design was carried out by Arkkitehtipalvelu.

As a responsible real estate developer, we strive to pay as much attention as possible to factors that increase the attractiveness of the area and promote a transition towards a safer living environment. We want to continue to be involved in these types of projects that genuinely aim to build a better city for all the residents, says Tuomas Rantsi, COO at Avara.
